Health IT is a recent healthcare discipline, and health IT cybersecurity is in infancy. The severity of cybersecurity situations in healthcare, especially during COVID-19, has necessitated the initiation of training and credentialing in this area—both formal and informal. These developments have in turn triggered development of new academic and certification programs leading to college degrees and certification credentials in Health IT/Health IT Cybersecurity as a testimony of competency in the health IT cybersecurity discipline.
