Chrisann Lemery

Chrisann Lemery, MSE, RHIA, CHPS, FAHIMA, is a privacy officer for Advocate Aurora Health in Wisconsin and Illinois. She has experience in management roles in health plans and all sectors of healthcare delivery—including acute care, behavioral health, outpatient services, and long-term care. She has developed and implemented privacy and security programs for health systems, health plans, and technology companies. 

 

Lemery has served in many leadership capacities at the national and state level sharing her passion for health information management.  She served as the AHIMA Speaker of the House of Delegates in 2017 and as AHIMA Board director from 2010-2012 and 2017. For the Wisconsin Health Information Management Association (WHIMA), she was president, past-president, and board member. Her volunteer activities related to advocacy and legislation include serving on the award-winning HIPAA Collaborative of Wisconsin (HIPAA COW) Board of Directors, and participating in state and national Hill Day visits, and serving on government-appointed committees addressing electronic health records (EHRs) and medical record copy fees. Her participation has aided numerous committees at the national and state levels, including AHIMA Privacy and Security and Enterprise Information Management Practice Councils, the Advocacy and Policy Council and the Professional Ethics Committee. She is active in academia, serving on college advisory boards, having served as interim program director for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and as a mentor to future HIM professionals. She is a recipient of the AHIMA Triumph Leadership Award and WHIMA Distinguished Service, Distinguished Member, and Outstanding Educator awards. 

She holds a master of science in education and a bachelor of science in health information management from the University of Wisconsin campuses. In 2008, she was awarded the AHIMA designation of Fellow.
