Dr. Sandra Brightwell, RHIA, FAHIMA
Dr. Sandra Brightwell, RHIA, FAHIMA, has 30 years of experience in health information management. Her undergraduate course work was completed at Illinois State University, and her post-graduate work and research focused on motivation and was completed with Northern Arizona University. Dr. Brightwell is the Program Director for the CAHIIM-accredited HIM AAS Degree at Central Arizona College and has held this position for 10 years. Dr. Brightwell is the recent president of AZHIMA, and a long-standing volunteer for AZHIMA, ILHIMA, and AHIMA. She is a CAHIIM Peer Reviewer, a member of the Equity Council at Central Arizona College and leads the Occupation Insight Initiative at the college. Dr. Brightwell also volunteers as the Vice President of Parental Support for her son’s elementary school PTA and is a Den Leader for Cub Scouts.
