Jacen Moore, PhD, MA, MT(ASCP), joined the Medical Laboratory Science program in 2019 as an Assistant Professor in the College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. He is currently an affiliate and previously served as a faculty member of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program at the University of Texas at El Paso between 2013-2019. Receiving his PhD in Experimental Pathology in 2006 from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, his research training focused on the molecular mechanisms of autoimmunity. He has published multiple manuscripts and book chapters regarding autoimmunity and barriers to HIV testing in sub-Saharan Africa. He and his students have presented their work at multiple national and international meetings. Before entering academia, he worked as a transplant technologist with the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he earned his Histocompatibility Technologist certification. He is currently a member of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Sciences TN state and national organization.
