Marissa Lajaunie, MBA, RHIA
Marissa Lajaunie, MBA, RHIA, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in health information management in 2009 and a Master of Business Administration in 2011, both from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has also been an RHIA since 2009. Prior to returning to UL Lafayette as an instructor in January of 2015, Mrs. Lajaunie was employed as the assistant administrator of an inpatient psychiatric facility and two outpatient mental health clinics where she was responsible for the overall leadership and operation of the facility's services, departments, and functions. She served as the performance improvement coordinator, infection control coordinator, privacy and compliance officer, credentialing coordinator, and employee education coordinator. Mrs. Lajaunie teaches several courses including medical terminology, healthcare statistics, quality improvement, foundations of HI management, and legal policy, and ethics. She also serves as the faculty advisor for the Health Information Management Society for students and is the health information management internship director. Mrs. Lajaunie co-authors Delmar Cengage Learning's annual publications aimed at preparing students for AHIMA certification examinations. She has been an active member of AHIMA, LHIMA, and the South District of LHIMA for many years.
