Scott Sittig, PhD, MHI, RHIA, is an Associate Professor in Health Information Management at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Dr. Sittig has a primary focus on health informatics which is broadly defined as the discipline focused on applications of information and communications technologies in gathering and analysis of health-related data, and dissemination of information to clinical, administrative, and public health policy decision makers, as well as to consumers. He earned a PhD in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Texas Health Science Center, School of Biomedical Informatics in Houston in 2017. In addition, he earned a master’s degree in Health Informatics from Louisiana Tech University and Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. His research interests are in developing and implementing applied health informatics methods/tools through persuasive technology to advance consumer health informatics, patient engagement and chronic disease management. Dr. Sittig has authored numerous publications in the area of consumer informatics and has been PI, Co-PI or co-investigator in over 1 million dollars of grant funding.
