Shannon Houser, PhD, MPH, RHIA, FAHIMA
Shannon H. Houser, PhD, MPH, RHIA, FAHIMA, is a professor in the Health Services Administration Department and Graduate Program in Health Informatics; a senior scientist at the Center for Clinical and Translational Science, at General Clinical Research Center; and an associate scientist in the Center for AIDS Research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Houser has been actively serving in leadership roles in health information and informatics professions at local, national, and international levels. She is president-elect for the Alabama Association of Health Information Management (AAHIM), and Chair of the AHIMA Foundation of Research Network, Population Health Workgroup. Dr. Houser has received several awards including the 2007 AHIMA Triumph Award for Research, and the 2021 AHIMA Mentor Award, and the 2020 AAHIM Distinguished Leadership Award of AAHIM in 2020.
